Welcome to the ACES SoCal blog. We still have the website going with lots of old photos and updated information on events and meetings. But this blog is a place for active members friends of the club and people of interest to post current info and updates of their builds. Check it out.

FACE OFF

After some long hard though, discussions with fellow ACES and friends I've made the executive decision to put the 29 closed cab pickup on the back burner momentarily. Having recently acquired the cut down touring car and nearly complete rolling chassis it just makes sense to finish this little modified right quick and just take my time with the closed cab truck. I have so much time invested into the truck that it just has been breaking my heart settling for sub par decisions in order to get it on the road faster. So I am really happy to come to this conclusion. Here are a few pics of where it is currently at. First on the list is to get this frame blasted and fix any of the original builders mistakes then go for a fresh coat of paint.

Rockin Roller

Thanks to O.C. Tattoo Gabe's Craigslist tip off I have another chassis sitting in my yard. Actually a complete wired and plumbed roller with vin munbers and a plate. I'll be honest it doesn't quite have the stance I am envisioning for the 27 T modified, but the deal was too good to pass considering the goods included.

THE GOOD:
40's Ford juice brakes all the way around.
'40 Ford rear end with trans and torque tube.
Vega steering box.
Posies slider reverse eye front spring.
Master cylinder and hard lines installed.
Pre existing wiring installed.
Titled with vin and plate.

 NOT THAT EXCITING:
Gay front wheels and tires. (Not that there is anything wrong with that....) Heading for the trash.
Lame home made pickup bed, more swap meet material...
Suicide front end, not generally a fan.
Stance is a little low for my taste.

EXTRA GOODIES:
Complete set of Dolphin white face curved glass instruments. (Just fine for a turn and burn car)
Black push button seat belts.
Brand new primer finish BLC headlights and lamps.
60's era 3 spoke steering wheel.
Various electrical knobs and switches.

The Profile
Some slick accessories.
Lame bed, but hides the fuel cell well.

Nice steering components.

Posies Slider

Juice it up!

Flat Track/Bobber/Café Build is on

I finally broke into my next build, it's 100% under way. Got the engine running really well, determined the cam chain needed more than adjusted however so had to break open the case to replace the tensioner. Even still, the engine ran sweet after a bit of tweeking. I then dropped it out of the frame and everything else I could put a wrench on …and a sawzall too.

In the end, this will be a monoshocked, shaft driven, V twin flat track bobber café.

Club Patches

After a few design mods, club discussion, and a few weeks of waiting our ACES cc patches are finally here. Looking forward to seeing what the boys in the club do with them.
